The
black friars were so called due to interest in the black arts,
they still practiced the word of God in most respects.....
The
Monastery was close to St. Leonard's Church. (Corve Street, Ludlow)
There isn't much left of the Monastery apart from a small unmarked
burial ground. Reports from the history of the area say that a
Well was found, in the last decade or so...
At
the bottom of this Well were a pair of skeletal feet there origin
are unknown, but wailing is said to be heard in the vicinity of
the Well as if the owner is searching for them...
The
Monks were deeply into there own beliefs but also had a strong
teaching of far eastern hand to hand combat. The stave was there
choice of weapon, made from the heart of the sacred yew tree and
each end covered in Gold (they had no need for money as the gifts
from travels kept them satisfied in there humble existence.)
